IT was a very happy Valentine’s Monday in National Lottery headquarters when over €578,000 was collected in prizes won across the weekend.

First in was Mary Foley from Birr, who collected her cheque for €103,500 which she won in Saturday’s Lotto Plus 1 draw. This prize was the regular Match 5 plus Bonus prize of €3,500, plus the Diamond promotion of €100,000 which ran with all Match 5 plus the Bonus Number prizes in Saturday night’s draws.

There were six winners of this special Valentine’s Weekend promotion and Mary was the first winner to collect their prize. Mary’s lucky ticket was purchased in her local shop, Square News, Emmet Square, Birr on Thursday, February 10.

Her lucky ticket was an €8 mixed selection, with three normal lines and one Quick Pick line. The winning line was Quick Pick. Mary opted to take a cheque for €103,500, which is the full cash value of the prize.

Mary, originally from Clones, Co Monaghan, plays Lotto every Saturday and was delighted with her win: “It hasn’t sunk in yet, to tell you the truth. I was watching the draw live on Saturday night when the numbers came out. I couldn’t believe it. I checked my numbers again and again to make sure I wasn’t seeing things!”, said a delighted Mary as she sipped champagne in National Lottery offices.

Mary intends to buy a new house with the win.
