HSE Riada House, Day Care Centre, Arden Road, Tullamore, has been nominated in the Day Care Centre of the Year Award category, in the Irish Healthcare Centre Awards 2013.
Considering this year is the inaugural event, there was a tremendous response from applicants in each of the nine categories according to the organisers.
Riada House Day Care Centre, Tullamore, has an average weekly attendance of 145 clients. The Day Care Centre, a HSE facility, is a Nurse led service which offers a wide variety of nursing interventions.
The Centre, have a person centred, hollistic approach to planning the clients care, tailored to meet their recreational and diversional needs. Activities that are offered include the use of a state of the art multi-sensory activation room, music therapy sessions ( local musicians give their time and talent), hand massage, hairstyling, Sonas sessions ( group and Individual), hand crafts and cross-stitching, Bealtaine projects, Offaly Arts engagement, reminiscence and story-telling, spiritual celebrations, skills demonstrations, gardening and home produce making,
Seasonal celebrations such as the now locally well known Christmas market, visits by primary and post primary school children from the locality, Day visits to local amenities and sites of local historical/ natural interest.
