PREPARATIONS are now almost complete for Daingean’s Heritage Fair which takes place next Sunday, June 10.
Large crowds are expected for this unique event. It is a community celebration of Daingean’s beautiful canal and heritage town.
It promises to be a very memorable day explained Charlotte Walker of Daingean Development Association. “We have 35 exhibitors, from basket weaving, to butter making to vintage machinery, all bringing to life the good old days! There will be something for everyone, with lots of food and crafts to eat, see and buy.”
Of course a fair could not take place without farm animals. So you can expect some slapping of hands as deals are done.
Daingean Development Association Chairperson Johnny Dunne remarked, “This event will rate alongside the hugely successful painting project that has Daingean looking so well just now.”
The Heritage Fair has entertainment for all, from face painting for the children to lectures on the history of the canal. It will be all action; boat trips, music, a blacksmith’s forge, butter churning and vintage tractors strutting their stuff.
If you really want to enter into the spirit of the event why not come along dressed in 1800’s costume or just simply stroll around and enjoy the atmosphere of this fun packed day.
