tullamore’s new Concert Choir made its debut last week with two seasonal evenings at St Catherine’s, Hophill in aid of Barnardo’s.

The Tunes for Toys concerts also featured the Town Band and attracted enthusiastic attendances on both evenings.

St Catherine’s was a beautiful venue for the recitals with its decorations and tree lined driveway. The programme for both evenings was a lovely mixture of traditional Christmas carols and a few modern interpretations.

Tullamore Concert Choir has a very broad range of members ranging in age from just 12 up to Senior Citizens all of whom share a great love for traditional choral music and performances. Conductor Bryce Collins is very optimistic about the future of the choir which has ambitious plans for 2012.

Choir Chairperson Don Murray was very pleased with the public response to their debut.

“The people who attended on Thursday night and Friday night were very complimentary about the selection of songs we performed and that was very heartening.”

The Tullamore Concert Choir will be performing again this Thursday (tomorrow, December 22) in the Bridge Centre and plans are already under way for a Spring Fling concert around Easter.
