Three county Good Friday Golf Challenge for charity

Highfield Golf Club have announced details of their Charity Golf challenge 2013 where 10 men will play three courses with a combination of 540 holes in one day and in three counties.

Highfield Golf Club have announced details of their Charity Golf challenge 2013 where 10 men will play three courses with a combination of 540 holes in one day and in three counties.

The event takes place on Good Friday with the coures situated in Offaly, Laois and Kildare. All proceeds will go to two charities Samaritans and Irish Autism Action.

The challenge will take part on the March 29 with a starting time of 6.15am. The first course is Portarlington Golf Club, then proceeding to the Heath Golf Club, and the final course is Highfield Golf and Country Course,

The 10 men playing this challenge are, Alan Duggan (Vice president Highfield), Michael Melia (Gents Captain), Daniel Pyke ( Junior Captain), William Ryan, Chris Rentes, Peter O Neill, Peter Walsh, Dean Donoghue, Richard Bradley and Robert Kelly (Kildare GAA Senior Player)

Highfield will be hosting an Opening on the 29th, 30th, and 31st of March also to raise funds for the charities, so if you wish to join in and be part of a great weekend Contact Michael Melia 0862680875 or Carol Ryan 0858031312

Each of the men will raise a total of €500 in sponsorship to play. They will have a start time of 6-15am in Portarlington Golf course Co, Offaly, then they will proceed onto the Heath Golf Club Co, Laois, and finally finishing up in their home club Highfield golf club Kildare. It will take approximately three and half hours to complete each course.

All players are very excited about the challenge and the age groups of each player ranges from 17 years old to 55 years old and all money raised is going to both charities Samaritans and Irish Autism Action.

Both charities are delighted to partner in this great event and not alone will Highfield be raising money for both causes but will be also bringing awareness to people on what both charities bring to each and every individual that needs their assistance.

Highfield Golf Club are also holding a scramble the same weekend with a 3 ball at €30 per team as to raise more money for the charities and bucket collections will be in place in towns on the 28th March with the money collected also going to the charities.

Carol Ryan, a local photographer, is the organiser of the event along with the Gents Captain Micheal Meila and says she is really looking forward to the challenge and she will be updating websites and facebook pages with photographs and information throughout the day from early morning until the last team finish on the 18th hole in Highfield golf club.
