Tullamore Academy Chamber Choir named National Choir of the Year

The Academy Chamber Choir (which is under the auspices of The Academy of Music Tullamore) claimed the top prize at the Navan Choral Festival under their conductor Ciarán Brady to win National Choir of the Year 2012.

The Academy Chamber Choir (which is under the auspices of The Academy of Music Tullamore) claimed the top prize at the Navan Choral Festival under their conductor Ciarán Brady to win National Choir of the Year 2012.

This is a huge honour for The Academy Chamber Choir and ranks them now among the top choirs in the country. If you would like to hear them and their winning pieces, they are performing in St Patrick’s Church Moate on June 10 at 3pm and they have been invited back to sing at 11am mass at the Pro Cathedral in Dublin on Sunday June 17.

The Focus Group is for men and women of all ages who would like to learn to take more effective control of their life in a relaxed environment. Choice Theory can help you to make better decisions in your relationships, parenting and general problem solving.

This course is free and will meet in the Arden View Community & Family Resource Centre on Wednesday, May 23 from 7pm to 9pm for six week. If you are interested in participating please contact the centre.

Nessa Childers MEP to visit Tullamore

Ireland East MEP Nessa Childers will visit Tullamore on Friday next (May 18) to meet representatives of local business, environment and culture groups. The Labour MEP will talk to the various groups to see how she can support them through her work in the European Parliament.

She will also meet Senator John Whelan and local Labour Party representatives during her visit to the town.
