President Higgins to officiate Anam Cara’s 4th National Day of Remembrance

Every parent’s worst nightmare is the death of their child. For some, that nightmare is a reality they must learn to live with. Thankfully, there is Anam Cara.

Every parent’s worst nightmare is the death of their child. For some, that nightmare is a reality they must learn to live with. Thankfully, there is Anam Cara.

Anam Cara is the national voluntary organisation set up by bereaved parents to support bereaved parents and siblings throughout Ireland.

Anam Cara receives no State funding and has to fund raise to keep their supports going. Tullamore is hosting two bag packs in Dunnes Stores Church Rd and Dunnes Stores Bridge Centre on 3 November. Please come out and show your support for this worthy cause.

If you are a bereaved parent or sibling, please come out to the 4th annual Anam Cara ‘Balloon to Remember’ event. It is taking place on Friday 2nd November 2012, which is also Anam Cara’s National day of Remembrance.

This year the event is taking place in the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone, Co Westmeath and will give bereaved parents and siblings an opportunity to remember their children who have died by releasing balloons in their memory. Registration for this event will start at 11am.

President Michael D. Higgins will be officiating at this event, with Miriam O Callaghan helping us out as our master of ceremonies. The ‘Balloon to Remember’ service will take place at 12.00pm followed by a light lunch and a chance for families to catch up with each other before heading back home.

To confirm numbers or find out more about this event we would appreciate if if you could confirm your attendance to info@anamcara.ie or call 01 4045378.
