Double jump for Portarlington ladies

Two Portarlington ladies are to fly through the air with the greatest of ease as they do a double parachute jump for two worthy causes.

Two Portarlington ladies are to fly through the air with the greatest of ease as they do a double parachute jump for two worthy causes.

Maryellen Brennan and Pauline Stapleton are to take to the skies around Clonbullogue on June 17 in aid of MS Ireland and the Port Dirty Old Towns/Tidy Towns projects.

Maryellen is a New Yorker and married to Donegal man Jim. An MS sufferer herself, she has not let the illness dictate her life.

As well as immersing herself in community life in Portarlington, Maryellen has a very positive outlook on life. She wanted to do something for her town as well as MS Ireland and decided on the jump. It’s something she always wanted to do and once given the all clear from her doctor, there was no stopping her.

Originally Jim was meant to join her in the jump, but recent ill health has prevented this.

However, neighbour Pauline Stapleton was quick to step into the breach.

The jump takes place in Clonbullogue on Sunday, June 17 at 9.30am.
