Thai Children’s Trust, a charity that helps disadvantaged and disabled children in Thailand in areas of extreme poverty and need, celebrated the opening of a new office in Edenderry, County Offaly this week.

The opening of the new office was marked with a special occasion for supporters on Tuesday 18 June 2013 held at The Morgan Hotel in Dublin and hosted by Adele Kierans, recently appointed CEO of Thai Children’s Trust in the Republic of Ireland. Among the guests attending the event to show their support for the charity was model, columnist and TV presenter Alison Canavan.

Adele also welcomed Kate Introna, a trained nurse who works at Sarnelli House orphanage, one of the projects supported by Thai Children’s Trust. Kate spoke to the charity’s supporters about her work looking after some 170 orphaned children, the majority of whom are living with HIV/Aids, in the impoverished north east region of Thailand.

Adele Kierans says: “Having Kate Introna come along to the event was a great opportunity for our supporters to find out more about her experiences of working with children with HIV/Aids and really brought the cause alive.

“The event was a great success and, with the new office, we can drive forward our fundraising in Ireland and increase the number of people who sponsor children and give regularly.”

Adele is forming a Development Group in Ireland to encourage fundraising. For anyone interested in taking part in fundraising activities in Ireland or in joining the Thai Children’s Trust Development Group, please contact her on adele@thaichildrenstrust.ie.
