Offaly events to mark Science Week

More than 10 individual events in Offaly have been registered so far as part of Science Week 2012 ‘Everyday Experimenting’, which takes place nationwide from November 11 to 18.

More than 10 individual events in Offaly have been registered so far as part of Science Week 2012 ‘Everyday Experimenting’, which takes place nationwide from November 11 to 18.

Over 600 Events are being held in libraries, schools, colleges, universities and other centres across Ireland.

Science Week 2012 ‘Everyday Experimenting’ aims to demonstrate that you are a part of Science. You are constantly experimenting. From attempting a new level on a game, to trialling a new recipe and even embarking on a first date – these are everyday experiments.

Events in Offaly will include:

*Atlantic Corridor is bringing a ‘Careers in Science & Technology’ Workshop to Offaly. This workshop on careers in Science and Technology will include speakers from Georgia Tech and Ericsson giving inspiring careers focused talks to students.

* Scientastic shows in Tullamore Library. A wonderful introduction to science for Primary School children including a talk and workshop full of exciting everyday experiments.

The award-winning comedy duo, the Rubberbandits and Sarah Kelly, who recently completed her PhD at The School of Health and Human Performance at DCU are pictured at the launch of Science Week 2012.
