Toymaster gift vouchers can be purchased for the Toy Appeal and Kelly’s Toymasters will ensure that they will be delivered to SVP in time for Christmas.

“This is a most worthwhile cause which can make Christmas extra special for a child,” said Adrian Kelly.

“It is Toymaster’s and SVP’s wish that every child receives a toy this Christmas; make it your wish too by just giving what you can,” he added.

Kelly’s Toymasters are helping to promote the Toy Appeal by entering all customers who participate in the appeal into a draw for a five-foot teddy.

This is the nation’s biggest ever charity toy appeal led by 2FM presenters including Ryan Tubridy, Hector Ó hEochagain, Ruth Scott, Colm Hayes and Larry Gogan.

The RTÉ 2FM Toy Appeal for St. Vincent de Paul is now in its third year and was born out of the hugely successful Toys for Tubs initiative in 2010. Last year, the 2FM Toy Appeal saw some 60,000 toys donated and distributed to families in need.

In managing the Toy Appeal, RTE 2FM and St. Vincent de Paul are offering people a range of options; partnering with Toymaster and Easons, where vouchers for the Toy Appeal can be purchased and with Supervalu, whose 195 stores nationwide are being made available as collection points for toys. RTE 2FM listeners will also be able to donate online at www.2fm.ie/toyappeal or www.svp.ie/toystore.

2FM’s Ryan Tubridy commented, “Every adult remembers the magic of waking up on Christmas morning and discovering what’s been left under the tree.”

Geoff Meagher, National President of St. Vincent de Paul remarked, “If the parents of children in need know in late November or early December that their child will have a toy on Christmas morning, they can sleep sounder with the knowledge that they can use what money they have available to put food on the table and pay bills.

“Calls for assistance to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul have increased by 80% since 2009, and it is expected that this Christmas we will help over 150,000 people with food, fuel and toys. Your Help is Vital, to ensure we can help those who are struggling in these difficult times.”
