Offaly man who died in Carlow shooting identified

THE Offaly man who was found dead along with a woman after a double shooting at a Carlow B&B has been identified.

THE Offaly man who was found dead along with a woman after a double shooting at a Carlow B&B has been identified.

The dead man has been identified as 53 year old John Deegan from Cadamstown, Birr, Co Offaly and the woman has been identified as 51 year old Deirdre Keenan of Carragh Road, Naas, Co Kildare.

The post mortem examination being carried out on the two bodies by Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Michael Curtis, have concluded. Both deceased died as a result of gunshot wounds.

Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Centaur Street between 10pm on Sunday, February 24 and 1 pm on Monday, February 25 who may have seen anything unusual to contact Carlow Garda Station at 059 - 9136620, the Garda confidential line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí also believe the couple travelled in the Wexford area on Wednesday and Thursday, 20th and 21st February, and would like to hear from anyone who may have had contact with them.

The couple were last seen at 10pm on Sunday night leaving a pub. Reports suggest that the couple were the only occupants of the B&B at the time of the incident.
