DAINGEAN is to unveil a new innovative heritage initiative to increase public awareness of the richness of the town’s heritage.

Daingean Development Association is launching the new heritage trail for the town along the banks of the Grand Canal and the event will be marked with an Old Fashioned Fair on Sunday, June 10.

It will be a fantastic opportunity to take part in the heritage trail and view the town through the eyes of the local people, who have put the trail together.

It will be a chance to see first hand the crafts that time has altered such as butter churning and threshing and to attend workshops to hear an account of life in Daingean and on the Grand Canal at the time.

The Association is hoping that the historical and cultural event will be a fantastic opportunity to increase public awareness of the richness of Daingean’s rich heritage.

As part of the forthcoming event, people have been asked to visualise heritage boats on the canal with old tractors and vintage cars with old fashioned threshing and butter churning taking place as part of an olde fashioned fair.

Meanwhile, organisers are currently looking for stall holders for the forthcoming event and people are being encouraged to participate in the forthcoming event.
