To mark the first anniversary of President Obama’s historic visit to Moneygall, the development association has arranged a photography exhibition by American photographer Denny Lynch.

The exhibition, which opens on Tuesday May 22, documents the people and the town of Moneygall on May 22 and 23 of 2011.

During those two extraordinary days Mr Lynch captured images of shopkeepers, visitors, painted houses, signs, musicians and of course the President of the United States and the First Lady.

In Mr Lynch’s words ”It was a smorgasbord of great subject matter for a photographer!”

In addition, the exhibition also includes photographs Mr Lynch took in Washington DC on the President’s Inauguration Day (January 20, 2009) and the party he attended that night at the Phoenix Park Hotel for Irish American Democrats.

Mr Lynch has been coming to Moneygall since 2008 when he first made friends with Henry Healy and his family.

His photographs have become part of the permanent collections of The Museum of The City of New York and the New York Historical Society.

The exhibition will be opened by Minister Alan Kelly in Moneygall on Tuesday, May 22 at 8pm in the Old COI School on the Main Street.
