OFFALY, the 2009 & 2010 All-Ireland junior and intermediate camogie champions, respectively, secured their first victory in Division 1 of the 2012 National Camogie League in their final game when they overcame Dublin by four points at O’Connor Park, Tullamore on Sunday.
After suffering losses against Wexford, Clare and Cork in previous encounters, this was a morale boosting win for the ‘Faithful’ girls even if they did have to endure some late pressure from a resurgent Dubs side.
Offaly, aided by the breeze, enjoyed a commanding interval cushion of 1-11 to 0-5 and during the second half they twice extended that advantage to ten points, 1-12 to 0-5 and 2-13 to 0-9. Dublin kept plugging away though and made matters interesting but they never looked like winning.
