Cork brush Offaly aside

Offaly crashed to their third defeat in the league to a classy Cork team in perfect weather conditions in Birr on sunday last.

Cork came flying out of the blocks firing over six points in the first eight minutes. Offaly's only response was a point from Elaine Dermody.

It was to get worse for Offaly with Cork full forward Katie Buckley scoring two goals followed by another goal by the excellent Gemma O'Connor and points by Jenny O leary would leave Cork well out of sight at the break on a score line of 3-10 to 1-4.

The second half didnt get any better for Offaly with player of the match Jenny O'Leary adding goal number four in the first few minutes of the half.

Cork continued to score freely and despite a great goal by Arlene Watkins some great play by Micheala Morkan and Marion Crean, Cork would run out easy winners.

A second Jenny O Leary goal would leave the final score at 5-20 to 1-4 and a very comfortable victory for Cork. Cork should be safely through to the semi final of the league with six points on the board while Offaly will be hoping to get some momentum going in their final game at home to Dublin
