Playing against the wind in the first-half, Offaly built a 2-2 to 0-4 lead with minors Ann-Marie Guinan and Rachel Brennan scoring the goals. Brennan got a touch to a high ball to deflect it into the net while Guinan showed great composure to finish to the back of the net when she was put through on goal. Brennan, who became the first St Cillian’s club player to line out for Offaly, was denied a second goal by a fine save from Elaine O’Meara.

Elaine Dermody and Siobhan Flannery each added a point as Offaly held a deserved four point lead.

Dublin were wasteful with the wind in the first-half hitting nine wides with the elements in their favour but they were outclassed by Offaly after the break with the visitors outscoring their hosts by 1-11 to 0-1 on their way to an emphatic victory.

Elaine Dermody added 1-7 in the second-half showing her experience as she dropped her hurl before handpassing the ball to the back of the net past Elaine O’Meara.

Siobhan Flannery (2), Tina Hannon and Rachel Brennan also found the target as Offaly cruised to victory.

All Star Sheila Sullivan was awarded the Player of the Game Award for a fine display at wing-back but all the Offaly players performed very well with Elaine Dermody top scoring with 1-8.

Offaly’s next game is at home to Tipperary on Saturday week, July 6th.

This Saturday, St Brendan’s park plays host to a camogie double header. The Offaly U-16 team face Cork in the All Ireland A Championship at 1.45pm while the Junior team will be looking to bounce back from their defeat to Dublin when they face Carlow following the U-16 game.
