Birr see of Rynagh’s chellenge

In an era when everyone is looking out for the next crazy hurling fad, Birr showed last Sunday that tried and trusted methods are still best. Those are – getting out first to the ball, hard work off the ball and getting a quality ‘forwards’ ball’ to the attack when on it.

Birr 2-9

St Rynagh’s 1-5

Methods such as these saw them get a dream start with points by Dylan Hayden and Brendan Murphy by the fifth minute. They struck a major blow a minute later when Sean Ryan collected Brian Watkins’ long ball and sent a bullet to the top right-hand corner of the net.

They pushed on from there and ran out comfortable winners to make the final.
