Karen Nugent, Marion Crean and Siobhan Flannery all found the back of the net with superb finishes as Offaly ran riot building a lead that Clare, despite their best efforts, could not overhaul.

Both these are relative newcomers to the grade with their progress mirroring each other in recent years.

In bright sunshine in St Brendan’s Park on Saturday there was also little to chose between two talented and committed sides for much of the game.
