GAA President Liam O’Neill launched the ‘Magic Memories – Birr GAA Club Through the Lens’ historical publication and DVD on the October Bank Holiday weekend and last week members of the Magic Memories committee presented specially commissioned hard back copies of the book to Birr GAA Chairperson Kevin Murphy and St Brendan’s Community School.
Kevin Murphy accepted his copy from Magic Memories Chairperson Martin McCarthy and he said the book was a wonderful publication that will be treasured by Birr people everywhere.
Magic Memories Joint Treasurer Gary Cahill, a member of the St Brendan’s CS side that captured All-Ireland Colleges senior hurling glory in 1986, returned to the school and presented a copy of the book toPrincipal Ming Loughnane and Vice Principal Bian Hensey. Magic Memories Editor Alan Walsh is also a former pupil of St Brendan’s CS.
Ms Loughnane said she was delighted to accept the specially commissioned copy of the book which highlights the school’s achievements over many decades.
Magic Memories Chairperson Martin McCarthy said they were overwhelmed by the positive responses to the book and DVD which have been selling well. “There are a limited number of books and DVD’s still for sale and in the lead up Christmas I’d encourage people to get their copy as there won’t be a print re-run.”
Copies of the book and DVD which each retail at €10 are available for sale at Super Valu, Whelahan’s newsagents, Claffey’s Filling Station, Horan’s, Loughnane’s Centra, Frawley’s and Square News.
Alternatively if you wish to purchase the book and DVD contact Magic Memories Chairperson Martin McCarthy at 087 7649804.
