‘Millennium Man’ to take charge of Offaly Senior Hurlers

‘Millennium Man’ Brian Whelahan is in line to become the next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager on the recommendation of the selection committee put in place to make the appointment.

‘Millennium Man’ Brian Whelahan is in line to become the next Offaly Senior Hurling Manager on the recommendation of the selection committee put in place to make the appointment.

The committee of County Board Chairman Padraig Boland, Tommy Byrne, Michael Coughlan and Paddy Scales are recommending the Birr clubman be given a two year term.

Whelahan was the only modern day player selected on the Team of the Millennium. He is a four time All Star and won two All Ireland Senior titles, two All Ireland Minor titles, four All Ireland Senior Club titles and 12 Offaly Senior Hurling titles with Birr.

He has most recently managed Kiltormer in Galway and Camross in Laois.

Once ratified, Whelahan will replace outgoing manager Ollie Baker
