The Tullamore Ladies Football team have advanced to the final of the Hugh Lynch Offaly Ladies Football Junior Championship

Tullamore and Clara battled it out in the first of the junior semi-finals. This was a cracking game and the full time score line did not reflect on the intensity of the game.

Ann-Marie Ownes and Jessie O’ Connor for Clara were a constant threat to the Tullamore defence. Good combination play from Lisa Conway, Martina Gannon and Offaly’s centre back Triona McDonald lead to most of the Clara scores with Lisa Conway scoring Clara’s only goal.

Tullamore were on a mission however to get past the semi-final stage after losing out in last year’s championship semi-final to Naomh Ciaran and showed what hard work and determination can do.

They put in a tremendous performance and when you have the sharp shooting free taking skills of Kelley Cunningham on your side your definitely on a winner, Kelley notched up a total of eight points five from frees in her sides 4-11 to 1-08 win.

Her club and county team mate Meabh Colman scored two cracking goals with Eithna Leavey and May McEvoy the other goal scorers. The half back line of Donna Murray, Alex Davis and Rashelle O’Niell put in a magnificent performance with Rashelle scoring a lovely point from play. Orla Bryant and the very talented Annie Kehoe were the other two point scorers for Tullamore.

Tullamore advance into the Junior Final and await the winners of the Naomh Ciaran and Shamrock’s game which will be played on Saturday next August 17th at 7.pm Venue TBC.

Offaly Ladies Football wish to extend our thanks to Durrow GAA for the use of their facilities.
