Kilcormac/Killoughey 1-11
.
In terrible conditions for hurling, Slevin scored 1-10 of his side’s 1-11 with seven points coming from frees. James Gorman was the only other player to get on the scoresheet.
The sides were level at 0-7 apiece at the break but Slevin’s goal eight minutes after the restart was the crucial score as it gave Kilcormac/Killoughey breathing space and they held off the determined challenge of the Carlow champions from that point.
Mount Leinster Rangers are the reigning All Ireland Intermediate Champions and they went toe to toe with the first time Offaly Senior champions throughout the first half.
After the break however they struggled for scores adding just two points to their total.
Kilcormac/Killoughey added 1-4 after the break to pull away to win and they now go on to face Laois champions Rathdowney/Errill in the semi-final after the Laois side overcame Clonkill at the weekend.
That game is fixed for November 18 with Kilcormac/Killoughey having the benefit of a home draw.
