THE line up for the Tullamore Court Hotel Offaly Senior Football Championships became clear over the weekend after the final round of group games.

THE line up for the Tullamore Court Hotel Offaly Senior Football Championships became clear over the weekend after the final round of group games.

Rhode were already guaranteed top spot in their group and with the weekend off they had the opportunity to check out their potential opponents.

They will square off against Ballycumber in the last eight after Ballycumber had a comfortable 1-10 to 1-4 win over St Rynagh’s to secure fourth in Group 1.

Despite their defeat to Clara, Gracefield finished ahead of Ballycumber on the basis of head to head and that sets up an intriguing quarter-final with Tullamore who finished second in Group 2 after a 1-14 to 1-11 win over Ferbane.

A one point win over Walsh Island secured Erin Rovers second place in Group 1 and their reward is a last eight showdown with defending champions Edenderry who dropped to third in Group 2 after a defeat to Tubber.

Clara finished top of Group1 with an unbeaten record and they now face Ferbane in the quarter-finals. Ferbane and Tubber both finished on two points in Group 2 but despite having a far inferior score difference, Ferbane get the nod on the basis of their win over Tubber in the previous round.

With no relegation this year, the season is now over for Tubber, St Ryangh’s and Walsh Island.
