Offaly facing ‘Trip to Tipp’ in the qualifiers

Despite being first out of the hat in the draw for the first round of the qualifiers, Offaly face a trip to play Tipperary in the first round of the qualifiers at the end of June.

Despite being first out of the hat in the draw for the first round of the qualifiers, Offaly face a trip to play Tipperary in the first round of the qualifiers at the end of June.

The change in venue is due to the fact that the GAA dictate that the ‘open draw’ be manipulated so as teams who were away in the first round of the qualifiers last year are guarnateed a home game this year.

Whatever the venue, Offaly cannot be unhappy with the draw as they look to progress through the qualifiers.

The sides were both relegated from Division 3 with Tipperary bringing Offaly down with them with a win in the final round.

Offaly were at a very low point during and after that game so this draw gives them a swift chance for retribution.

Tipperary looked an improved side as they pushed Kerry close in Munster while Offaly were knocked out of the Leinster Championship on Sunday by Kildare.

Details of the fixture will be announced later in the week.
