ST Mary’s, Edenderry made history on Saturday when they became the first Offaly team to lift the Hogan Cup when they won the All Ireland Colleges Senior Football A Final.

St Mary’s, Edenderry 1-16

St Michael’s, Enniskillen 0-6

Three years after suffering the pain of defeat to Colaiste na Sceilge in the decider, the Edenderry school were not going to be denied in Croke Park as they blitzed St Michael’s of Enniskillen to win the final in emphatic fashion.

They went for it right from the start and by the 17th minute they were 1-6 to 0-0 clear playing into the diagonal wind and they pressed home their advantage to go to the break with a ten point lead with their opponents left wondering what hit them.

The much vaunted Ulster champions very briefly threatened a fightback at the start of the second-half but the Leinster champions were quick to snuff out the threat and for the final quarter of the game they were on cruise control as they romped to victory.
