Coolderry began their bid to regain the Molloy Environmental Systems Offaly Senior Hurling title with a 1-21 to 2-8 win over Belmont at the weekend.
The 2011 Champions did not have it all their own way as they trailed by 2-7 to 0-10 early in the second-half but they dominated for the remainder of the game outscoring Belmont by 1-11 to just a point as they secured a ten point win.
They lead the table on score difference from Kinnitty who rounded off the weekend with a 0-17 to 0-11 win over Lusmagh in Rath. Lusmagh had the wind in the first-half and lead by 0-9 to 0-7 but Kinnitty, with Colm Coughlan top scoring with eight points, overhauled the deficit in the second-half and ran out comfortable winners.
In the third game in the group last year’s beaten finalists St Rynagh’s began their campaign with a 1-12 to 1-8 win over Shinrone. Both sides scored early goals and with the wind St Rynagh’s were 1-7 to 1-3 ahead. They defended well in the second-half restricting Shinrone to just five points as they held on for a four point win.
