After 13 minutes St Brigid’s looked to be in total control as they opened a 0-5 to 0-0 lead. Ballyfore finally opened their account midway through the half through James Rafferty and that score steadied them as they added another three in succession to get back into the game.

In a game where both sides enjoyed periods of dominance, St Brigid’s hit back again scoring 1-1 before the break with the goal coming from Thomas Mooney to leave the Croghan men 1-7 to 0-5 ahead at the break.

The momentum swung to Ballyfore again at the start of the second-half and after a point from Barry Moore, Derek Foran blasted the ball to the back of the net to reduce the deficit to a single point.

Seven minutes later they added a second goal and it looked as if the game had swung decisively in their favour.

However St Brigid’s showed their experience and points from Ken Casey and Bobby Troy drew them level as time ticked down.

Then in injury-time, Dean Kennedy was the hero for St Brigid’s as he slotted over the winning point to break Ballyfore hearts.
