THE future for Offaly football looks very bright indeed as both St Mary's, Edenderry and Gallen CS qualified for All Ireland A Senior Football Finals on Saturday afternoon.

All Ireland Colleges SF A semi-final

St Mary's 1-12

St Jarlath's 1-6

St Mary's saw off last year's beaten finalists St Jarlath's of Tuam in Pearse Park in Longford.

At the end of an excellent first half, St Mary's lead by 0-11 to 1-2 and things got even better early in the second half when Daniel Flynn blasted home a goal from the penalty spot.

St Mary's added only one further point but defensively they were very strong restricting their opponents to just four further points.

Ger Leech top scored with six points while Cormac Hurley made two stunning saves.

All Ireland VS SF A semi-final

Gallen CS 2-14

Davitt College 2-5

Playing with the wind in the first-half of their semi-final in Strokestown, Gallen were in superb form and opened up a deserved 1-9 to 0-3 lead.

The Offaly school were rocked early in the second-half as Davitt College hit a quick fire 1-1 and entering the closing minutes they were back within five.

However defending All Ireland champions Gallen are a vastly experienced team and a second goal from Michael Butler settled the nerves as Gallen ultimately cruised to victory.
