Division 2 FL

Cappincur had their first outing in the Division 2 League on Saturday last in Cappincur against Kilclonfert. Cappincur dominated the first half and went in at half time with a scorline of 1-06 to Kilclonferts 0-01. Kilclonfert came out fighting in the second half but Cappincur held them off well. Cappincur won in the end with a two point margin. The final score was Cappincur 1-11 to Kilclonferts 1-09. There was no winner of the weekly club Lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 4, 7, 16, 27. Adult Hurling

Club hurling training starts back this Thursday 21st at 8pm in Pairc Phroinsias. All adult, Under 21 and minor hurlers are requested to attend. All new hurlers are also welcome. Coaching will be done by Galway man Niall Lynch.

Indoor Hurling League

The annual indoor hurling league continues every Tuesday night from 7pm. Great crowds continue to support the 50 u8 hurlers and as the group stages draw to a close the tension and excitement rises.

Sports Prediction Cards

Over the next 3 weeks you will see our sports prediction cards. These are a fun way to increase our interest in the years major sporting events. The idea is to correctly predict the winners of 20 events from football to rugby to formula one to golf. The cards are for sale at €5 with prize money of €450 for the winners. All funds raised will go to equipment for underage teams and we ask that you support the effort as best you can.

Blood Transfusion Service

On Monday February 25th 2013 the blood donor clinic arrives in Clara at the GAA Centre and will be open from 3pm to 5pm and again from 7pm to 9.30pm. Blood donors are always needed, its simple and its safe and we ask you to consider donating.

Edenderry Ladies GAA Nursery Training 2013
The ladies underage indoor season continues every Friday in St. Mary’s Secondary School hall for our under 10 and under 12 teams. The under 12 team (girls born in 2001 and 2002) will train from 6.00pm to 7.00pm with the under 10 team (girls born in 2003 and 2004) training from 7.00 to 8.00pm. There is a €2 fee per players to cover the rent of the hall. All girls in the area are invited to come along and have some fun whilst gaining some valuable exercise.

Easter Rising 2013
The hugely anticipated Easter Rising, the fight night involving Edenderry GAA and Derry Rovers on Easter Saturday 30th March was launched last week and full details are on our website www.edenderrrygaa.com. 

There has been massive interest in the event which will take place at Edenderry GAA Clubhouse and tickets which are limited are selling fast.

Membership for 2013 is now due and can be paid to any committee member. All players, coaches and committee members are reminded that they must have their membership paid by 31st March 2013. This date is also important for everyone as it is the cut off date for members to be registered to vote at next years AGM and to nominate or be nominated for elected positions within the club. Mouth Guards

The club have purchased a number of mouth guards which will be given to youth members paying their membership. Stocks are limited so pay your membership now and receive your free mouth guard.

St Marys Secondary School
Congratulations to the St Mary’s Secondary School Senior Football team who beat Athlone CC in the quarter final of the Leinster Colleges in Thursday last. They now play Marist College Athlone for a place in the final.

Adult Football Training

Senior, Junior and Minor Football squads have returned to training for the 2013 season. Training takes place in Edenderry GAA on Tues & Fri at 7.30pm and Sunday morning at 10am.

Congratulations to Lorraine Keena and Jean Brady on winning the Ashbourne Cup with WIT. Also well done to Eleanor Clendennan and Clare Keenaghan who were on the DCU team that won the Purcell cup. Offaly were very well represented over the weekend with 16 players taking part. U-16 Leinster Championships
Offaly U-16 Camogie continued with the progress made by winning the All Ireland B title in 2012 by having two panels compete in the Leinster A and B championship this year.
The opponents for both matches were Kilkenny and the matches were played in Johnstown on Sunday. The A team competed very well against the defending Leinster A champions but conceeded too many goals. The final score was Offaly 3-7 Kilkenny 6-7.
Offaly: Shannon Touhey, Shiofra Ryan, Roisin Egan, Olive Kearney, Clodagh McCormack, Aisling Brennan, Ann Daly, Sarah Walsh, Aisling Feeney, Mairead Jennings, Cailin Fitzgerald, Emma Kirwan, Aideen Freeman, Grainne Dolan, Terri Delaney.
The B team, many of whom are still U-15, started at a blistering pace and were rewarded with a fine goal from Kate Troy. They added two more points from Aoife Sweeney to leave the half time score 1-2 to 0-1. Offaly played against a gale force wind in the second half but the battled tirelessly for the 30 minutes. Kilkenny put the Offaly girls under immense pressure but they never gave up and held Kilkenny scoleless in the second half.

Minor
The Offaly minor panel continued their prepartions for the upcoming championship with a challenge match against Tipperary on Sunday in Roscrea. It was another good work out for the team.

Proposed new membership and fee structure system
RDO Lizzie Flynn & Ardchomhairle member Miriam O’Callaghan will make a presentation to all clubs on the proposed introduction of a new membership and membership fee system in 2014.
Clubs are asked to have at least two delegates in attendance as this needs to be then brought back to clubs for their vote and at the March County Board meeting a vote will be taken on Offaly’s decision to support the proposal or reject it.
The meeting will take place on Tuesday, February 26 at 8pm in the GAA committee rooms at Kilcormac GAA club.

Division 2 FL

Raheen’s opening Div 2 Football League fixture against Ballyfore last Saturday was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch in Ballyfore and will be re-fixed for another date.

After last weekend’s postponement Raheen Intermediate Footballers will hopefully be able to begin the club’s playing campaign for this year when they travel to take on St Rynaghs in Cloghan this Saturday (23 Feb) @ 3:00pm in their opening Div 2 League fixture.

There is now a Range of Official Raheen Supporters Clothing including Replica Jersies, Hoodies, & T-Shirts available in most sizes from Kids to Adults. Orders can be paid for in instalments over 5-6 weeks and Marina Corcoran will be in the clubhouse on Friday evenings after training to take Orders and Payments. Fun Run

A 5K Fun Run in Memory of Barry Lee will be held in Geashill Village on Sunday 3rd March 2013 @ 12 Noon. Competitors may Run, Walk or Cycle the route. Entry Fee is €10 for Adults, €5 for Students and €15 for a Family with the proceeds going towards the Geashill Playground Fundraising Committee. Registration will take place from 11am in the Raheen GAA Clubhouse. Refreshments will be served in the Clubhouse afterwards. All Support would be much appreciated.

Sympathies
The club would like to extend its sympathies to the Mulhall and Kelly families following the tragic accident on Friday evening last.

Gumshields
Please note the compulsory wearing of gum shields ,for all ages up to and including minor, for playing Gaelic football came in to force on the 1st Jan 2013.
This includes training and competition games. Players will not be allowed to take part in any Gaelic football training or matches unless you are wearing a gum shield.

Membership:
Membership for 2013 is now due and must be paid before 31st March. Fees should be paid to Club Registrar, Brian Kearney, the Chairman or the Secretary.
The fees are as follows: Adult Player €50, Students €25 and Non Playing Adult €20.

Shamrocks were defeated on Saturday last by the 2012 County champions, Rhode, on a score of 1-9 to 0-7. Shamrocks competed well but it is vital all players attend training on the appointed nights. They are due to play St Brigids on this Saturday in Croghan at 3.00pm. Please support.

125 years celebrations
This year, Tullamore Gaa will celebrate our 125th anniversary. To mark the occasion we have a number of events planned including releasing a book at the end of the year - Tullamore Gaa 125 years of memories. We are asking you for your help. We would love for you to send in a photo of yourself, members of your family young or old and any relative living or deceased that have any association with Tullamore Gaa whether as an active participant or supporter presently, in the future or in years gone by. Also if anyone has any photograph of a particular moment in Tullamore GAA please send them in. We hope that this book will be for the people of Tullamore and written by the people of Tullamore. Please attach your contact details along with all relevant information of who is in the photograph. Underage Mentors/Helpers
We are currently planning for our upcoming underage season. We encourage all parents, members and anyone interested to get involved in helping out with our teams no matter how little knowledge you may have of the games. We appreciate every little help we get, be it carrying the water bottles, first aid kit or just an extra body to help out or give encouragement at games and training. If you could help out in any way this year, it would be greatly appreciated. Since early January we have a new coach, Oisín Talty in place to specifically help our coaches, mentors and helpers who are involved with teams from under 6 to under 12 in both hurling and football. Oisín is only with us for the next nine months so if you were thinking of getting involved with any team, now would be a great opportunity to avail of his expertise. ‘Out of Order’ Play
Banagher Drama Group in aid of Dóchas present “Out of Order” on Friday and Saturday 22nd and 23rd February in the Social Centre. This is a great play which was a sell out over a number of nights in Rhode recently. Tickets €10 and can be purchased on the door.

Indoor hurling training for 10-12 year old’s takes place in Tullamore College on Mondays from 6-7pm.

Walsh Island 0-5 Tullamore 2-9: Tullamore senior footballers made a winning start to 2013 in last Friday’s Division 1 League encounter away to Walsh Island. Four points from Shane Kelly helped Tullamore to a 0-6 to 0-3 half-time lead before a goal from the same player with eight minutes remaining sealed the win. Sub Shane Dooley added 1-1 to complete the scoring. If Offaly lose on Tuesday night the following fixture will take place instead of the above: U21 Football Championship - Durrow vs Tullamore in Durrow on Sunday 24th February at 12 noon
