The South Offaly Hugo Loonam Motors Indoor Hurling Primary School Blitzes commenced in February with 28 Schools Teams competing.

Group 1 Hurling: Birr Boys NS are back on top as they clinched victory over Coolderry NS, Crinkle NS and St. Rynaghs NS. As expected it was a heated encounter between arch rivals, with a high level of skill produced by all teams in group 1.

Group 2 Hurling: Clonlisk NS over came the challenge of Lusmagh, High St. and Killeen in the group stages and faced Rath NS in the final. A draw would have been a fair result but Clonlisk proved their worth as they scored a late winner to clinch the title in Group 2.

Group 3 Hurling: Carrig Boys were convincing winners over Clareen NS, High St. NS and Kinnitty NS.

Group 1 Camogie: Carrig Girls had to contend with Coolderry NS, St. Rynagh’s NS and Birr Girls in Group 1. Carrig Girls have mustered up another title making it 3 in a row.

Group 2 Camogie: Gallant winners Lusmagh NS fought of the challenge of Ballyboy NS, Rath NS and Kinnitty NS in group 2. Like in group 2 hurling Rath NS lost out in the final by a single goal.

Mixed Boys and Girls Group: The highlight of the South Offaly Indoor Hurling & Camogie is always the participation of the small schools who entre a mixed boys and girls teams. This affords pupils the opportunity to participant in hurling in predominately football schools. Broughal NS, Rashina NS, Ballyboy NS, Coolaraney NS couldn’t get the better of Mountbolus NS who stormed to victory in a closely contested group.
