MISSED opportunities were key as the Rhode ladies footballers bowed out of the Leinster Championship at the hands of Westmeath side Milltown on Saturday.
Milltown (Westmeath) 1-8
In a game played in difficult wet and windy condition, Rhode made a great start with an early goal but they couldn’t press home their advantage as they clawed their way back before getting in front going into the final quarter.
Rhode gave it their all in the closing minutes to get back on terms but they didn’t take their chances, partly due to some fine goalkeeping from Kellie Philips. Even when the home side were reduced to 14 players late in the game they held on for the win and advanced to the quarter-finals.
