Offaly struggled to regain the form they had shown in their victories over Limerick and Louth but they still went to the break ahead by three points.

However the game changed in the first 15 minutes of the second half as Tipperary outscored Offaly by 1-6 to 0-1. Offaly had plenty of chances in this period but they wasted all bar one with Tipperary goalkeeper Matthew O’Donnell twice coming to his side’s rescue with fine saves.

Offaly did mount a late comeback but a string of late wides proved very costly as the visitors held on for a one point win
