On Friday evening last Naomh Molaoise and Rhode played off for the right to challenge last year’s senior champions St. Rynagh’s for the senior title 2013.
Hugh Lynch’s Offaly Ladies Senior Football Championship
Naomh Molaoise 3-5
This was the fifth meeting for these teams this year. They met three times in the League, twice in the group stages and then in the final where Rhode came away winners after an epic final which went to extra time.
Rhode have a number of county players on their panel in Orlagh Heavey, Amy Kerrigan, Emma Dalton, Aoife Byrne, Hannah McMahon, Katie Killeen, Niamh Malone.
They also have a fantastic player in Nicki Feery who came on loan from Tyrellspass and plays county football for Westmeath. Nicki notched up 1-5 Rhode’s scores. This is a team on a mission and the meeting of St Rynagh’s and Rhode in the final is guaranteed to be a cracker as St Rynagh’s go for two in a row and Rhode seek revenge for losing the title last year. The game is fixed for the weekend of September 7/8.
Naomh Molaoise, formally St Vincent’s and Killeigh Ladies who amalgamated at the beginning of 2013, can be very proud of themselves playing in the senior ranks for the first time. Just three year ago St Vincent’s they were bottom of the Junior table.
