It was St Rynagh’s third title in four years as they had previously lifted the cup in 2012, 2010 and 2009.

Leading by 0-8 to 1-2 at half-time after playing against the wind, St Rynagh’s took contol in the second-half with goals from Helen Dolan and Sinead Flannery to claim the title in style.

Niamh Killeen opened the scoring for St Cillian’s but St Rynagh’s responded with the next four points from Helen Dolan (3) and dual star Mairead Daly.

St Cillian’s had two excellent goal chances midway through the half but both Aideen Freeman and Elizabeth Harding were denied from point blank range by Tara Dooley.

With St Cillian’s wasting scoring chances, St Rynagh’s built their lead with points from the prolific Helen Dolan (2) and Emma Corcoran to put them seven points to the good.

St Cillian’s rallied before half-time and a point from Cailin Fitzgerald was followed by an excellent goal from Aoife Plunkett after she was put through by Rachel Brennan

They reduced the gap further at the start of the second-half with a point from Aisling Brennan but Rynagh’s responded with a point from Helen Dolan who added a long range goal soon after.

Another point from Dolan was cancelled out by Aisling Brennan before a double save from Niamh Collins kept St Cillian’s in the game.

Emma Corcoran moved St Rynagh’s 1-11 to 1-4 ahead before St Rynagh’s second goal from substitute Sinead Flannery wrapped up the win.

St Rynagh’s added three further points late in the game with Niamh Cleary rounding off St Cillian’s scoring for the day.

Offaly County Board Chairman Robbie Bergin presented the trophy to St Rynagh’s captain Megan Mahony.
