Clara GAA Club

Underage GAA 2013: Clara GAA is looking for people who may be interested in coaching, mentoring or helping out at underage level. We currently provide for over 100 boys in both hurling and football from u6 to u16 and would like to see more involvement from ex-players and parents. There is no doubt that the kids and current mentors would benefit from increased support. If you are interested in helping or know of someone that is, please contact Derek Handy or any member of the committee as soon as possible as we are aiming to commence training for all teams before the end of January.

U-8 Indoor Hurling: The U8 indoor hurling training will start on Tues 15th & 22nd Jan in the GAA center U6- 6.30 to 7.30 and U8-7.30 to 8.30 sharp. The indoor league will begin on Tues 29th Jan for 6 weeks culminating with three finals playing for the Ber Cowen, Tommy Dolan and Tom Naughton cups. The team lists and fixtures will be in the Post Office and GAA social centre windows the weekend of Jan 26th. All players must be down at 6.45 on Jan 29th to receive their team jerseys and photos taken. Please wear shin-guards and if you have a helmet at home please bring it to training, but if not we have some spares. Any questions call Mel @ 087 2649536

Lotto: here was no winner of the weekly club Lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 23-24-25-28. There were 3 match 3 winners. They were Ciaran Doyle,Tom Kinahan and Edel, Sinead and Margaret Fleming. Next weeks draw takes place in The Mill and the Jackpot is €2150. Thanks to all who support our lotto and thanks to all our ticket sellers.

Ladies AGM: The Edenderry Ladies Gaelic Football Club AGM will take place on Wed 16th Jan at 8pm in Edenderry GAA. Please come along on the night and help us review 2012 and shape the future direction of the Club in 2013 and beyond.

Easter Rising 2013: Edenderry GAA and Derry Rovers Football Club will lock horns to form their own “Easter Rising” in a white collar fight night on Easter Saturday night March 30th 2013. This all-ticket affair promises to be a massive event as the two clubs battle for bragging rights. Our boxers have now been selected and they are currently seeking sponsorship for the event. Each boxer will then be required to pass a medical and will undergo a six week training regime with the local boxing club to ensure he is ready for the fight. The following is a full list of the Edenderry GAA boxers: John Mason, Colin McNamara, Jonathan Blong, Gary Blong, Sean Moriarity, Colm Byrne, Joe Murphy, Trevor Ryan, Paul Hanlon, James Coffey, Brian Quinlan, Aaron O’Connell, Peter O’Neill, Michael Ennis, Ross Mangan, Peter Manley. Please support the boxers in their effort to raise sponsorship funds in the coming weeks.

Bingo: The Bingo Jackpot will be €2,200 in 45 calls or less next Sunday night. Bingo starts at 8pm every Sunday night and there is a total prize fund of €18,000 on offer every Sunday night.

Membership: Membership for 2013 is now due and can be paid to any committee member. All players, coaches and committee members are reminded that they must have their membership paid by 31st March 2013. This date is also important for everyone as it is the cut off date for members to be registered to vote at next years AGM and to nominate or be nominated for elected positions within the club. Offaly Senior Football: Well done to Offaly Senior Footballers who made an excellent start to 2013 in the O’Byrne Cup on Sunday. Edenderry were well represented with four players on the starting 15, David Hanlon, Sean Pender, Derek Kelly and Richie Dalton while Stephen Guing, Keith McGuinness & Mark Young were named on the bench with Stephen getting some game time. Offaly continue the O’Byrne Cup games on Wed 9th in Gracefield at 7.30pm against AIT and next Sunday 13th against Westmeath in Mullingar at 2pm

Progressive 25: Progressive 25 is held in Kilclonfert Community Centre every Tuesday night at 9pm

Kinnitty Camogie Club

Kinnitty Camogie club would like to thank all our trainers ,parents and board for their time and commitment during 2012. Thanks to our Senior trainers Michael Whelan and Michael Bergin. We express gratitude to Our minor trainer Majella Bergin , and Underage trainers Denis Carroll and Majella Bergin .Rita Bergin and Tom Robinson trained our U10 and U8 teams . A huge amount of time and commitment goes into training, and the club is extreamely gratefull. We would like to thank Father Michael O Meara in a special way , for his continuous support .

Our AGM will be held on Sun 20th Jan at 2pm in the community centre . We would ask for a large representation from parents, as many of our long serving board members are stepping down and seats will need to be filled .

Our sponsored walk took place on Sunday last and despite the inclement weather we had good support. Thank you to everyone who collected and handed in cards, or added to our bucket. Well done to Anne digan who was First home in good time ,and looked like she could go again .

Happy New Year: We would like to wish all our players, parents, coaches, sponsors a very happy and successful 2013! We would like to thank you all for your efforts, help and support during 2012. We would also like to wish every success to the 4 adult clubs in the Parish in the coming year.

Sympathy: The club would like to offer its deepest sympathy to the family of Rhianne Dunne, on their recent tragic loss. Our prayers are with you during this difficult time.

Registration night: We will be holding a player registration night over the coming weeks, details to follow. This is important as all players must be registered in order to play. Plus it is a chance to meet the coaches and have a chat with them about the coming year.

Congratulations: Well done to Offaly Senior Footballers on their win over Laois in the first game of the O’Byrne cup last Sunday. It has been a good start by the new Management team, and good to see Eoin Carroll from Cappincur featuring on the team, plus Jamie Hayes was part of the panel. Best of luck to the lads over the coming weeks.

Best wishes: The club would like to wish Tommy Cocoman from Daingean all the best on his travels to Austrailia for a year as part of his college course. The club would like to take this opportunity to pass on best wishes to all past St Vincents players who have left in recent times to travel and work abroad, (at present there are 7 players from Kilclonfert alone in Austrailia!).

U21: U21 training will be commencing shortly, and the same management team is in place as last year. Management will be in touch with the players.
