Registration night

Our annual club registration night takes place on Tuesday the 5th of February starting at 6.30 until 8.30. It takes place in the GAA Social Centre (the star) and it will be an opportunity for all parents and kids to meet their mentors and coaches for the year. Mouth guards and other equipment will be on sale on the night. We look forward to seeing you there.

Membership rates

Membership is now due and can be paid to any committee member. Membership for 2013 remains same as 2012 and are as follows: Membership Rates 2013; Life Membership: €250; Adult Membership: €50; Underage: €20; Students: €40; Non Playing Member: €20; Life Member Registration: €2 We ask our members abroad to renew their membership and this can be done by contacting any committee member.

Underage hurling

Indoor hurling continues every week which nearly a hundred boys are participating in. This is a brilliant sport to watch and the annual u8 tournament continues each Tuesday night in The Star. Match reports will be here each week and we hope to see a packed house every Tuesday as our new generation of hurlers get their first taste of action. Best of luck to Mel Doyle and all the kids and parents.

Easter Rising 2013

Edenderry GAA and Derry Rovers Football Club will lock horns to form their own “Easter Rising” in a white collar fight night on Easter Saturday night March 30th 2013. This all-ticket affair promises to be a massive event as the two clubs battle for bragging rights.
Our boxers have now been selected and they are currently seeking sponsorship for the event. Each boxer will then be required to pass a medical and will undergo a six week training regime with the local boxing club to ensure he is ready for the fight.

Membership

Membership for 2013 is now due and can be paid to any committee member. All players, coaches and committee members are reminded that they must have their membership paid by 31st March 2013. This date is also important for everyone as it is the cut off date for members to be registered to vote at next years AGM and to nominate or be nominated for elected positions within the club. Edenderry GAA are delighted to announce that David (Rodge) Hanlon has been named as Offaly U21 Captain for 2013. A great honour for David, his family and the club.

St Marys Secondary School

St Mary’s Secondary School Senior Football team began their bid to retain their Leinster and All Ireland titles witha win over Portmarnock CS on a 3-05 to 1-04 scoreline. Next up is a game with Athlone CC in the quarter final on Feb 9th.

Adult Football Training

Friday Feb 1st will see the Senior & Junior Football squads return to training for the 2013 season. The first session will commence at 7.30pm in Edenderry GAA.

Edenderry Ladies Football

AGM

Edenderry Ladies GAA club held it’s AGM on Wednesday last January 16th in the GAA Centre. There was a very comprehensive review of the year and plans put in place for the coming 2013 season. Chairperson Niall Comerford welcomed all to the meeting which began with the secretary’s (Tricia Doyle) report.

Tricia went through the various teams achievements throughout the year, and advised that while we did not win any trophys this year, we did compete well in all age groups, and the U14s, U16s and Minors all reached the County Final. She thanked all the coaches/managers for all their hard work and commitment and also congratulated Kym Furey and Christine McDonnell as recipients of National All Star Awards last year and this year.

As Tricia is stepping down as Secretary, she thanked the Committee and all Officers of the Club for all their hard work and assistance throughout her tenure.We would like to thank Tricia for her huge dedication over the past 3 years and hope to see back in the fold sometime in the future.

The Treasurer’s report by Liz Rickard was also very comprehensive with Liz outlining how difficult 2012 was financially but the club still ended the year in the black so well done and big thanks to Liz. The speeches concluded with the Chairperson thanking all the committee, Gabriel and Bernie Gorman for their work with Feile in 2012, the coaches, parents, main club committee members, Pat Cullen and the club’s sponsors particularly our main sponsor Walsh and Kealy (Andy Walsh).

Niall has stepped down as Chairperson and we would like to thank Niall for being a wonderful chairperson throughout 2012.

Nursery Training 2013

The ladies underage indoor season commences this coming Friday February 1st in St. Mary’s Secondary School hall for our under 10 and under 12 teams. The under 12 team (girls born in 2001 and 2002) will train from 6.00pm to 7.00pm with the under 10 team (girls born in 2003 and 2004) training from 7.00 to 8.00pm. There is a 2 euro fee per players to cover the rent of the hall. All girls in the area are invited to come along and have some fun whilst gaining some valuable exercise.

Raheen’s successful side who captured the Div 4 Football League last year will be presented with their medals medals by a Special Guest in Hamilton’s, Geashill on this Friday 01st Feb 2013 beginning at 9pm approx. A great night is sure to be in store so come along and join in the celebrations.

There is now a Range of Official Raheen Supporters Clothing including Replica Jersies, Hoodies, & T-Shirts available in most sizes from Kids to Adults. Orders can be paid for in instalments over 5-6 weeks and Marina Corcoran will be in the clubhouse on Friday evenings after training to take Orders and Payments. Fun run

A 5K Fun Run in Memory of Barry Lee will be held in Geashill Village on Sunday 3rd March 2013 @ 12 Noon. Competitors may Run, Walk or Cycle the route. Entry Fee is €10 for Adults, €5 for Students and €15 for a Family with the proceeds going towards the Geashill Playground Fundraising Committee. All Support would be much appreciated.

Have you and old Raheen Team or Player Photos from anytime over the last 40 Years and in particular the last 10 Years. If so we would greatly appreciate if you would loan them to the club to get copied and put on display upstairs in the Cluubhouse. Photos may be given to John Hackett, Eddie Kaye or any Committee Member and ALL Originals will be returned once copied.

Members are asked to renew their membership as soon as possible but all membership must be paid by the end of January 2012. This year again there are 2 membership options. Option 1 includes entry in our weekly club lotto draw and Subscriptions are Playing Members €120, Students/ OAP’s & Non Playing Members €110. Option 2 is the same as previous years and Subscriptions are Playing Members €30, Students/ OAP’s €15 & Non Playing Members €20. Payments can be given to Paddy Bracken. New members are very welcome.

Training for the new season has commenced under new manager, Eamonn Mahon and Intermediate selectors, Denis Loonam and Gerry Corbett. The club will compete in Divisions two and four of the League and in the Intermediate and Junior Championships. First League game is scheduled for 16th. February.

125 years celebrations

This year, Tullamore Gaa will celebrate our 125th anniversary. To mark the occasion we have a number of events planned including releasing a book at the end of the year - Tullamore Gaa 125 years of memories. We are asking you for your help. We would love for you to send in a photo of yourself, members of your family young or old and any relative living or deceased that have any association with Tullamore Gaa whether as an active participant or supporter presently, in the future or in years gone by. Also if anyone has any photograph of a particular moment in Tullamore GAA please send them in. We hope that this book will be for the people of Tullamore and written by the people of Tullamore. Please attach your contact details along with all relevant information of who is in the photograph. Photos can be posted to the office on Arden Road or emailed to tullamoregaa125@gmail.com before March 31st. We would like to thank you in advance and look forward to receiving your treasured photos and memories. All photos will be returned at the launch night. Presentation Night

2013 marks a very special year in our clubs history and to get the party started we are celebrating the success of our Minor and Junior B footballers and launching our 125th anniversary celebrations at our Club Presentation Night on Saturday 9th February in Tullamore Court Hotel. Tickets are selling well and we will have ticket sale nights as follows - Tuesday 29th January 7.30-8pm and Friday 1st February 8-9pm in the committee room. This year will hopefully mark a year full of success on and off the playing fields with many celebrations so lets start it on a high. All support welcome as this will be a great club night. Can all Junior B and Minor Footballers who have not collected their ticket please do so on these nights.

Coach Training

Offaly Coaching & Games have adopted a new approach to coach education and are offering a coaching programme to all coaches. We encourage all mentors, helpers, club members, parents and anyone interested in helping out this coming year to do the coaching course. This course will be very beneficial to all. Anyone interested, please contact Fergal or Aoife to register for the course. We would encourage any parent who wishes to get involved to take part in the course. The course will be run over 4 sessions as follows: Football: Wednesday 6th February, Tuesday 26th February, Tuesday 19th March and Wednesday 10th April Hurling: Monday 28th January, Monday 18th February, Monday 11th March and Tuesday 2nd April
