Allianz Cumann na mBunscol Uíbh Fhailí, in conjunction with the INTO recently held their annual skills competition in St Rynaghs GAA grounds and O’ Brien Park Tullamore.

Schools from throughout the county were invited to send representatives in the four codes-Hurling, Camogie, Football and Ladies Football. Attendance in both venues was great.

In St Rynaghs the winners of the hurling and camogie competitions were Cathal Burke representing Coolderry Central School and Leah Gath representing Scoil Naomh Eoin Rath. Second place in the hurling went to Liam Seacy from Dromakeenan National School.

In O’ Brien Park Tullamore, Mucklagh National School came out winners in both boys and girls football competitions with Paul Luby and Abbey Dunne showing great style. Second place in the ladies football was a keenly fought contest and after a playoff between four girls Emer Lawless from Edenderry Girls National School came out with the second place title.

These children will now go forward to represent Allianz Cuamnn na mBunscol Uíbh Fhailí in Croke Park by playing at half time in the All Ireland Hurling and Football Semi-Finals or All-Ireland final days. Huge congratulations go to not only the winning children, but to all the children who participated in both venues.

Thanks to the Allianz Cumann na mBunscol committee members who assisted in both venues, and to the Offaly branches of the INTO who sponsored the trophies. Best of luck to the children selected to represent Offaly in Croke Park. Have a wonderful day.
