AFTER recently winning their respective Senior Championships, Kilcormac/Killoughey and Rhode doubled up over the weekend with each claiming Division 1 League honours.
First time Senior Hurling Champions Kilcormac/Killoughey were given a stern test ahead of their debut in the Leinster Club Championship as they were pushed all the way by Seir Kieran in the final.
Despite scoring three goals to none for their opponents, Kilcormac/Killoughey trailed by two points late in the game but they were rescued by three late points from Ciaran Slevin. He scored 1-10 in total while Seir Kieran’s Joe Bergin helped himself to 0-12.
Rhode meanwhile faced Clara in a repeat of the Senior Football Championship Final and again came out on top. Niall McNamee was in blistering form scoring 3-4 of his side’s 4-8 on the day.
The sides were level at 0-5 apiece at the break before McNamee took control guiding Rhode to a 4-8 to 1-6 win as Rhode won their fifth League title since 2005.
