Cooney and Baker officially ratified as senior managers

THE long and drawn out process to appoint Offaly Senior Football and Hurling managers for 2011 finally concluded at a marathon and at times acrimonious County Board meeting on Thursday evening.

Gerry Cooney was ratified as the Senior Football manager while Ollie Baker was ratified as the Senior Hurling Manager. Cooney will be joined on his management team by James Stewart as a selector with Paddy Carr as part of the backroom team. He will not be taking the U-21 team,

Two hurling selectors were also announced and they are Mark Corrigan and Paudge Mulhare. John Leahy was also ratified as Minor Hurling manager.

At the meeting Rhode’s Stephen Darby read a prepared statement where he clarified his position with regard to his position giving a detailed account and timeline of events.
