Well done!

Congratulations to Offaly on their win in the first round of the league v London, and especially to Cappincur clubman, Eoin Carroll who has featured prominently in all the games so far. There was a great support over from Offaly with a great time had by all.

.

Update

Registration for the coming year has been maintained at €10 per child and a maximum of €10 per child. This must be paid by all players wishing to play and train with St Vincents teams within the first 2 weeks of returning to training.

In addition all mentors must fill out Garda vetting forms, and must be members of an adult club in order to take part in coaching teams.

The various managements will be in touch over the coming weeks to outline plans for the coming year.

.

Gumshields

A new rule has come in this year to help protect against dental injuries in the GAA. All children from U8 to Minor must wear a gumshield for both training and games. You can buy a gum shield in any sportshop and mould with boiling water to fit your childs mouth. We will be insisting on strict application of this rule at all training sessions and matches.

.

GAA Games Based Training Course u8 to u14 groups.

The opening session of a 4 session course took place in Edenderry last Tuesday night. It is advised that all coaches hoping to be involved with u14 down to u8 would attend. Many thanks for the large number who attended from St Vincent’s and contributed to a very constructive evening. Basically the 4 week session will enable us as a group to build a plan for the way forward in coaching kids, in the best manner possible, the appropriate skills, at the right age. It will ensure that kids progress and develop using an approach based on learning through game situations as opposed to straight line drills, and that there is more thought put into how and what we coach.

Many thanks to Alan Mulhall and the former inter county players who have put there time and effort into this.

The remaining sessions for the North Offaly group will take place in venus TBC on the following dates, WED 20th Feb,TUE 12th March, & TUE 2nd April.

.

Best of Luck

Good Luck to Kilcormac Killoughey who face Thurles Sarsfields next Sunday 9th Feb in Portlaoise. Winning their first Senior Offaly & Leinster titles were a huge achievement to the club who will be hoping to take it one step further and reach the All Ireland. There will be plenty travelling over to Portlaoise from the parish to support ye.
