Niall Darby and Niall McNamee were the scorers in chief as they over ran a brave Ferbane side in the second-half eventually winning by 1-19 to 1-9.

In fairness to Ferbane they matched or outscored a number other teams on what was in the main a low scoring weekend.

Edenderry just edged out Tullamore by 1-8 to 1-7 in a tight game in O’Connor Park leaving Tullamore topping up the group after three defeats.

Erin Rovers kicked the weekend off with a win over Tubber on Friday evening which leaves them second in the group behind Rhode

Challengers Clara and Walsh Island played out a 1-7 to 0-10 draw in what was supposed to be the pick of the games in Group 2. Gracefield and Ballycumber also drew on a scoreline of 1-9 to 0-12 but St Rynagh’s continued to heap the pressure on Shamrocks as they prevailed by 3-7 to 0-9. Shamrocks have no points on the board yet and face a real uphill battle to avoid relegation.
