ON Sunday next the Offaly senior camogie team becomes the first team from the county to play at senior level with their opening game in Division 1 of the league against Clare in Newmarket On Fergus at 12.30 pm.
The girls have a difficult group for the first time in Division 1 having Clare, All Ireland champions Wexford and beaten All Ireland finalists Galway in their group.
Fixtures for the group games are as follows: February 13, Clare v Offaly; February 27, Offaly v Wexford; March 13, Galway v Offaly.
Training has been going well under the guidance of Joachim Kelly with Ger Fogarty and Bernie Nugent as selectors.
Following in the footsteps of two great captains Marion Crean 2009 and Micheala Morkan 2010, Elaine Dermody will captain the side this year with Arlene Watkins as vice captain.
After the league, Offaly will play Dublin in the Leinster championship on May 8 in Kilkenny.
The All Ireland championship starts in June with seven matches in as many weeks, running right up to the end of July.

The third round of a annual sportstar competition will be held in Kinnitty on March 17.
This year two senior players and two U-16 players from each club will compete for the title .
The U-16 team has commenced training every weekend times and venues will be available from club secretaries. Sean O’Meara is team manager, Breda Hynes selector with other selectors to be named soon
St Sinchills and Lusmagh are to join for the coming season at senior and U-18 level. Draw for the senior championship will be made at the next county board meeting on March 2.
