Offaly Camogie has launched a ‘Last Man/Woman Standing’ Fundraiser based on the Premier League which kicks off on the weekend of December 21.

Offaly Camogie has launched a ‘Last Man/Woman Standing’ Fundraiser based on the Premier League which kicks off on the weekend of December 21.

The competition is run through the website runlastman.com which is and is fully automated. The website was recently launched by former GAA Footballer of the Year, Alan Brogan.

The entry fee is a one off payment of €10 with half of the entry fee going to the winner or winners.

A ‘Last Man Standing’ competition runs as follows. For example, John picks Chelsea to beat Spurs. If Chelsea win he goes through, but he won’t be able to pick Chelsea again. Peter picks Villa to beat Arsenal, but it’s a draw so Peter is out. The competition continues until everyone goes out and the pot is split between the last remaining entrants, or 1 person remains — The “Last Man/Woman Standing”.

Offaly Camogie field teams at Senior and Junior level in the adult grade. Last year the senior team lost by a point to Wexford in the quarter-final while the Junior team made it all the way to the Junior A Final where they lost to Dublin.

At minor last year, Offaly won the All Ireland Minor B title and were narrowly beaten by Dublin in the Leinster A Final.

Offaly’s U-16s lost the Leinster A Final to a late goal to Wexford last year while the county’s U-14 Development Squad performed strongly winning a blitz in Ennis which featured the top teams in the country.
