Offaly 2-16

Offaly struggled for scores in the first-half and went to the break trailing by 0-11 to 0-6. They were dealt a blow before the game started when full-back and captain David Kenny was forced to withdraw.

Lusmagh’s Sean Gardiner was called in the starting line up and he along with Coolderry’s David King made their NHL debuts.

Offaly found scores easier to come by in the second-half but Dublin matched them score for score and with 15 minutes to go Dublin still lead by five points at 0-16 to 0-11
The game exploded into life when Shane Dooley rattled the ball to the back of the net to get Offaly back within two.

However Dublin struck back immediately when Danny Sutcliffe reacted quickest to dispatch the ball home for a goal after James Dempsey had initially made a brilliant save to deny Johnny McCaffrey.

Dublin extended the lead to six but with nine minutes to go Offaly again got back within two when Shane Dooley rattled home a 21 metre free and Cathal Parlon fired over a fine point.

That left the score at 2-14 to 1-18 and the game was right back in the balance but Dublin hit the next two points to put daylight between the sides again.

Shane Dooley slotted over two more points, one from a sideline, to reduce the deficit to the minimum but time expired and Dublin held on for a one point win
