Cappincur claim victory over parish rivals

DESPITE a brief rally midway through the second-half from Daingean that reduced the gap between the sides from nine points to a more managable four, Cappincur deservedly held on to claim their second Junior A Football title in rain soaked O’Connor Park last Saturday.

Cappincur 1-9

Daingean 1-4

For 50 minutes of the game, they were easily the better side and while there was a momentary wobble when the pressure came on from their parish rivals, Cappincur quickly steadied the ship before cruising over the finish line.

On the day their passing was sharper, their movement was quicker, their marking was tighter and their tackling was far more effective which helped them to a 1-6 to 0-2 half-time lead. Scores were harder to come by in the second-half for the eventual winners as they hit six wides but they had enough of a lead already built to run out comfortable winners.
