The second round of the Hugh Lynch’s Ladies Football Senior championship took place on Saturday evening when Naomh Molaoise travelled to Banagher to take on last year’s County Champions St Rynagh’s.
This was always going to be a tough game for the young Naomh Molaoise team with seven of the County players on the St Rynagh’s team. St Rynagh’s took control of this game from the start with some lovely scores coming from Siobhain Flannery, Linda Sullivan and Mairead Daly.
Naomh Molaoise battled well with scores from Tara Roe and Emma Cuddy after some lovely play but the half time score gave St Rynagh’s a comfortable lead going in at the break St Rynagh’s leading on a 4-7 to 1-3 scoreline.
It was a much closer game in the second half with both sides scoring 1-4 apiece. The final score read St Rynagh’s 5-11 to Naomh Molaoise 2-7.
St Rynagh’s sit comfortably at the top of the table with two wins out of two and will face Edenderry in their next round game, Naomh Molaoise have won one out of two, their next game is against their League final opponents Rhode which will take place on Friday evening, time and venue to be arranged. Rhode defeated Edenderry in their first round game, and lost their second game to St Rynagh’s. Naomh Molaoise defeated Edenderry in their first round match.
