Ballycumber Area Defibrillator Scheme
“The Ballycumber Area Defibrillator Scheme AGM took place Wednesday night (6th February) where a new committee was elected.
Thanks were expressed by Chairman Liam Hackett for the hard work done by everyone last year and also to Ballycumber GAA for the ongoing use of the meeting rooms. All the Defibrillators in the area have now been replaced with new ones and also contain spare batteries. To date the scheme currently has 185 members fully trained in CPR and in the use of a Defibrillator. The committee will continue to meet on the first Wednesday of each month at 9pm in the GAA Centre and these meetings are open for everyone to attend.”

There was no winner of the weekly club Lotto jackpot. The numbers drawn were 5, 15, 19, 26. Underage Hurling

The indoor hurling league continues every Tuesday in the Gaa Social Centre where 48 boys play matches. It begins at 7pm sharp and continued support from the town in parents and family members makes for a great evening.

Congratulations

Heartiest congratulations to neighbours Kilcormac/Killoughey on their excellent win in the All Ireland Senior Hurling semi-final against Thurles Sarsfields on Saturday in Portlaoise. It was an incredible win and the way they played was a great credit to their club and the county. All roads now lead to Croke Park on St Patrick’s Day.

Edenderry Ladies GAA Nursery Training 2013
The ladies underage indoor season continues every Friday in St. Mary’s Secondary School hall for our under 10 and under 12 teams. The under 12 team (girls born in 2001 and 2002) will train from 6.00pm to 7.00pm with the under 10 team (girls born in 2003 and 2004) training from 7.00 to 8.00pm. There is a €2 fee per players to cover the rent of the hall. All girls in the area are invited to come along and have some fun whilst gaining some valuable exercise.

U14 Valentines Disco
An U14 Valentines Disco will be held on Sat 15th feb in Edenderry GAA from 7.30 to 9.45pm. Entry is €5.

Easter Rising 2013
Sat 9th Feb was a great night in Byrnes when Eamon Horan of RTE Sport was on hand to announce the details of the Easter Rising in front of a packed audience in Byrnes Lounge.
Eamon acted as MC for the launch and he introduced each boxer to the stage and interviewed a number of them about their thoughts ahead of the event on March 30th.
Willie Forde spoke on behalf of Edenderry GAA and encouraged everyone in both clubs to get behind the event. He mentioned the sacrifices that all the boxers will be making in the coming weeks as they begin training. Boxers are currently looking for sponsorship for their fight and tickets for the event will be on sale in the coming week priced at €15 each.

This date is also important for everyone as it is the cut off date for members to be registered to vote at next years AGM and to nominate or be nominated for elected positions within the club. Offaly Camogie

Senior Championship Draw

The draw was made at the February Offaly Camogie County Board meeting for the 2013 Senior Championship. The nine teams in the Championship are split into two groups with Group 1 having five teams and Group 2 having four. Defending champions Shinrone have been drawn in Group 1 along with Birr, Kilcormac/Killoughey, Naomh Brid and Kinnitty. Last year’s runners up Drumcullen are in Group 2 along with St Rynagh’s, Tullamore and St Sinchill’s/Lusmagh.

The top team in each group will go straight into the semi-finals with second and third placed team in each group going into the quarter-finals. The first two rounds are due to be played in early May.

Golf Classic

Offaly Camogie will be holding a Golf Classic on April 1 (Easter Monday) in Birr Golf Club. Entry fee for a team of four is €120. Tee Box Sponsorship €50. To book your tee off time or team box contact Carmel Carroll at 0868289321. All support for the Golf Classic would be greatly appreciated.

Fun run
A 5K Fun Run in Memory of Barry Lee will be held in Geashill Village on Sunday 3rd March 2013 @ 12 Noon. Competitors may Run, Walk or Cycle the route. Entry Fee is ?10 for Adults, ?5 for Students and ?15 for a Family with the proceeds going towards the Geashill Playground Fundraising Committee. Registration will take place from 11am in the Raheen GAA Clubhouse. Refreshments will be served in the Clubhouse afterwards. All Support would be much appreciated.

125 years celebrations
This year, Tullamore Gaa will celebrate our 125th anniversary. To mark the occasion we have a number of events planned including releasing a book at the end of the year - Tullamore Gaa 125 years of memories. We are asking you for your help. We would love for you to send in a photo of yourself, members of your family young or old and any relative living or deceased that have any association with Tullamore Gaa whether as an active participant or supporter presently, in the future or in years gone by. Also if anyone has any photograph of a particular moment in Tullamore GAA please send them in. We hope that this book will be for the people of Tullamore and written by the people of Tullamore. Please attach your contact details along with all relevant information of who is in the photograph. Photos can be posted to the office on Arden Road or emailed to tullamoregaa125@gmail.com before March 31st. Presentation Night
2013 marks a very special year in our clubs history and to get the party started we celebrated on Saturday night last in the Tullamore Court Hotel. This was a very successful club night and on behalf of the committee there are a number of people who have to be thanked. Thanks to Paddy Rowland for working on the door, Emer Keegan, Mary Flanagan, Paula McCabe and Mary Spollen for selling raffle tickets on the night, thanks to those who sponsored spot prizes and to PJ Grennans for sponsoring the 125 cake. It was great to have Billy Dowling and Gerry Conway presenting the medals and we thank both of them for that. Thanks to Shaun Martin for decorating the room and to the Court Hotel for all their help and advice in making it a wonderful night. We must mention our MC for the night, Noel Cooney who ensured we were entertained and of course his party piece at the end. Thanks to Aideen Marron who helped with all the impressive video clips shown on the night. Thanks to all those who attended on the night, there was a great buzz in the room and it was great to see so many familiar faces. Finally a special mention to Paul Conlon who put so much effort into ensuring the night was extra special for all and to mentors John Keane and Mick Lowery who assisted with the preparations. Congratulations to our deserving award winners Johnny Kavanagh and John Keane and to all who received medals on the night.

Coach Training
Offaly Coaching & Games have adopted a new approach to coach education and are offering a coaching programme to all coaches. We encourage all mentors, helpers, club members, parents and anyone interested in helping out this coming year to do the coaching course. This course will be very beneficial to all. Anyone interested, please contact Fergal or Aoife to register for the course. We would encourage any parent who wishes to get involved to take part in the course. The course will be run over 4 sessions as follows: Football: Wednesday 6th February, Tuesday 26th February, Tuesday 19th March and Wednesday 10th April Hurling: Monday 28th January, Monday 18th February, Monday 11th March and Tuesday 2nd April
