Offaly ladies footballers see off Roscommon to maintain 100% league record

THE Offaly ladies Footballers kept up their winning start to the season with a 2-12 to 1-9 win over Roscommon in the Tesco Homegrown National League in Clara on Sunday last.

The result leaves Offaly on top of Division 4 alongside Limerick who have also won their opening two games. Louth and Antrim also have 100% records however they so far have played just one game apiece.

In dreadful condtitions, Offaly battled hard throughout and deservedly came away with a six point win.

Star of the show for Offaly was the 2012 Ladies Football of the Year Siobhan Flannery. The St Rynagh’s player and dual star lead from the front finishing with a personal haul of 1-5.

Also on the score-sheet were, Orla Heavey 0-2, Mairead Daly 1-0, Orla Kelly 0-2, Treasa McManus 0-1, Claire O’ Brien 0-1 and Kym Furey 0-1.

Offaly face a long trip north for the third round of the league this weekend as they face a strong Antrim side on Sunday, February 17.
