Double Offaly success at AIMS awards

THERE was success at the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS)/ HB Awards banquet in the INEC, Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney last Saturday for Tullamore Musical Society and Birr Stage Guild.

THERE was success at the Association of Irish Musical Societies (AIMS)/ HB Awards banquet in the INEC, Gleneagle Hotel, Killarney last Saturday for Tullamore Musical Society and Birr Stage Guild.

Karen Martin won an AIMS award for Best Comedienne for her portrayal of ‘Katisha’ in Hot Mikado.

Karen is the first member of Tullamore Musical Society fo win an award as a Comedienne. She was runner up in this section in 2006, as was Eileen Cronin in 1979, the late Anna Browne in 1982 and Martina Bracken in 1986.

Audrey O’Meara won the Best Actress Award for her portryal of ‘Laurie’ in Birr Stage Guild’s Oklahoma.

Meanwhile Colin Hughes, John Conroy and Sarah Vaughan all finished runners up in their categories.

Chairman of Tullamore Musical Society Brian Gunning congratulated all members on their success.
